In 1621, the Pilgrims organized the first Thanksgiving in the New World to celebrate the autumn harvest. Since 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln called for a national day of Thanksgiving and praise, Americans have celebrated this holiday every fourth Thursday in November. It has become a day for family, fun, and food.
The centerpiece of the Thanksgiving table is the turkey… unless you’re vegetarian or vegan, of course. A suitable dinner can come together from the sides, but having an entree available for the plant-based eater at the Thanksgiving table is a plus. Below I’ve collected six homemade and four store-bought options. Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving!
